There are so many cute props out there these days for photographers. When I see something I really want to try and use, it usually costs more than I’m willing to spend. So I decide, “Hey, I can do that!” And I spend the next few days figuring it out on my own.

So when I was getting ready to figure out my Valentine’s Day Mini Sessions, I decided there had to be something adorable thrown in there for good measure! So I made this cute little bunting:

It’s seriously so easy to make!

What you need:

1. Cotton fabric that you can cut or tear into strips.

2. Length of rope, twine or anything that can be used to hang your banner.

How to:

Cut or tear your strips of fabric. Mine were approximately 22 inches by 1 1/2 inches. But yours could be any width or length. Whatever you think will work for your particular session. How many you cut depends on how far apart you want your strips to be. The ones here are not bunched together. If you want a bunchy look, you’re going to need more strips of fabric.

Take a strip of fabric and fold it in half. My 8-year old daughter was kind enough to show the step by step :)

At the fold, place it under the rope or twine, middle of the fold towards you.

Take the loose ends that are at the top and wrap them around the twine and bring them through the loop.

Now pull!

What you end up with is something that looks a bit like a tie.

Repeat process over and over until you have it as full as you want it.

You can do it so it’s full and bunchy, or you can spread them apart. I did this one more spread apart and added some letters for Christmas.

You can really do anything. This is a versatile project you can totally make your own.  If you do one, I’d love to see the finished product. Leave a link in the comments. I can’t wait to see your creativity.:)

Thank You Keli!

I made this strip banner this week for a “Mad Hatter Tea Party” themed session. It turned out beautiful! I used hot pink eyelash yarn to fill in between the strips and it gave it tons of texture. Thanks for the easy tutorial!
