A little about Purple Frog Photography & Alicia:

“My husband I have a two year old and a four year that are our everything! They are the reason why I started Purple Frog. I photograph weddings and seniors but my true love is working with newborns and toddlers. I love the true expressions that toddlers give me, and who doesn’t like to snuggle with a newborn? I find myself rocking the babies even after they have fallen in to a deep sleep! I have found what works best is for the parents to step outside or in to another room when I work with the older kids. That way they are free to be themselves with out any prompts from Mom and Dad.

On average during the summer months I shoot 2-3 sessions a day Tuesday-Saturday and it drops down to 1-2 a day during the winter months. I love that I have the freedom to make my own schedule! To me that is the biggest perk of being my own boss! On the flip side I dislike all the hats that I have to wear. (boss, accountant, marketer, photographer, editior, etc.) I am slowing learning to let go and start to farm out some work. I now send my unedited wedding files to a editing house called Colorati. They color correct and size my images for me! I now can turn a wedding around in 3 weeks! That is such weight off my shoulders! “

“We have a unique triangle shaped building that serves as our offices and viewing area. It’s about 300 sq. feet. It’s tiny but it serves it’s purpose. Everyone in the city knows our building.  I love when people peer in to my windows and check out the new work.”

“We used to shoot out of the upstairs up until a month ago. We have recently expanded to the loft next door. We now have a 1200sq. ft loft space that we just LOVE! We still have both spaces and will continue to do so. I think it’s important to have the street level presence. “

What a fun idea having a swing!

When asked why she decided to move from her home studio to a dedicated shooting space she answered …

“About a year and a half ago I was shooting out of my home. My home and garage was starting to overflow with props and backdrops and I wanted to have my dining room back! I knew that a dedicated studio was a must when my one and a half year old escaped from the babysitter in the basement and decided to run though my shoot exclaiming that his “peanuts” hurt!”
