DIY Tutorial: A-Frame Tent

A-Frame Tent Tutorial

by Mandi of Silverscape Photography

What You’ll Need:

5 – 4 foot lengths of 1×2 wood

6 – 1 1/2″ wood screws

2 – 4.5″ lengths of heavy twine

Supplies:

Drill, Ruler, Pencil and Queen Sized Quilt, Blanket or Sheet

Step One: Measure 4 inches from the top of a wood plank and mark in the center. Do this to 4 of the boards.

Step Two: Stack 2 of the marked boards at a 90 degree angle from each other and screw into place using the marks you made as a guide.

Place a second screw through the boards for stability.

Step Three: Repeat with the two remaining marked boards. These create your two A-frames.

Step Four: Stand both frames up and place your remaining board across the top of your frames and screw it into place.

I left some extra overhang on the front of mine so that I could use the space to hang things from the tent.

Step Five: Tie lengths of twine between the frames to help keep your blanket from sagging in the middle.

Step Six: Use a queen sized blanket, quilt or sheet to drape over the top. I’ve also used tabbed curtains and threaded them onto the top before screwing it into place.

Awesome!  This is such an easy A-frame tent to make.  I just LOVE the star garland hanging around the top of the tent!

Thank You SO much Mandi for sharing such a detailed tutorial with us all!

Fondy,

Tabitha
